Hey, I’m Dan Clay… founder of Dangerously Fit.

I set up Dangerously Fit back in 2003, starting out as a personal trainer… before social media, before online workouts, before half the fitness fads you see today had even popped up.

Like many trainers, I got my start working in big franchise gyms… learning my craft, clocking long hours, and helping people get in great shape.

By 2008, I was running one of the largest outdoor fitness boot camps in my city… 16 locations, hundreds of people showing up week in, week out, rain or shine.

I’ve always been into functional strength, and those boot camps were built on that philosophy… no machines, no fluff…  just kettlebells, sandbags, battle ropes, aqua bags, and plenty of effort.

Then… 15 years ago, I injured my shoulder tearing my rotator cuff.

That injury led me down a rabbit hole that would change everything.

I started training with Indian Clubs, then Steel Clubs, and eventually Maces… not because they looked cool, but because I needed to rebuild.

To my surprise, it worked.

My shoulder strength, mobility, and stability all improved — fast… and they’ve never been better.

But it didn’t stop there.

That training sparked something deeper.

A newfound passion for unconventional strength and functional movement.

In 2018, I brought together everything I’d learned over the years and launched the Dangerously Fit Academy… delivering accredited CEU courses across the country.

I spent the next few years flying from city to city, teaching coaches how to train with unconventional strength tools like clubs, maces, kettlebells and sand bags – the good stuff… training tools with history, function, and purpose.

It wasn’t just about training anymore.

It was about teaching others how to move better, train smarter, and build strength that’s functional for everyday life.

I started sharing what I’d learned online, and before long, I was teaching my training methods to people around the globe.

In 2020, when COVID hit, I wasn’t able to travel and run workshops around the country… so I decided it was time to launch my own line of training tools.

Solid, balanced, beautifully crafted gear I wished I’d had when I first started training.

Dangerously Fit is the result of over two decades of real-world experience training clients, coaching trainers and creating programs that help people move better, get stronger, and stay injury-free.

It’s built on the belief that you don’t need machines or mirrors to train like a warrior.

You just need the right tools… and a bit of guidance.
